Browns Predicted to Go Through Another Major Quarterback Shakeup

The Cleveland Browns have long been searching for stable quarterback play. Over the years, they have drafted, signed, and traded for quite a few different options. None of them have solidified a role as a long-term franchise signal caller.
Coming into the 2026 NFL season, the Browns carried four quarterbacks on their roster. Once again, none of them scream “franchise quarterback” at this point in time.

Deshaun Watson has been the team’s starter through the first three games of the year. Shedeur Sanders has been his primary backup. Both Dillon Gabriel and rookie quarterback Taylen Green are also on the roster.
With that being said, a new prediction has been made that would see Cleveland go through another major quarterback shakeup.

Browns Predicted to Make Another Major Quarterback Change
Sports Illustrated’s Gilbert Manzano released a new 2027 mock draft before Week 3 action. His prediction made it clear that he doesn’t think the Browns have anyone on the roster who can be viewed as a long-term option.
Manzano predicted that Cleveland will take Notre Dame standout quarterback CJ Carr with the No. 10 overall pick.
Obviously, that prediction is subject to change. Mock drafts change throughout the season as teams win and lose. The 2027 NFL Draft order will not be known until the regular season comes to a close.
Through the first three weeks of the season, the Browns have gone 2-1. They were able to pull off a surprising Week 3 victory at home over the Carolina Panthers. If the season were to end today, they would not hold a pick as high as No. 10 overall.
Carr would be an intriguing option for Cleveland if Andrew Berry and the front office have a chance to draft him. So far this season with the Fighting Irish, Carr has completed 70.5 percent of his pass attempts for 963 yards, nine touchdowns, and just one interception. He has scored another two touchdowns on the ground.
It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Browns. Sanders could still be an option past the 2026 season, but the widespread belief is that Cleveland could target finding a long-term quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft.
