A’ja Wilson explains heated confrontation with ‘unacceptable’ Fever fan

Once again, we are leaving a highly contested game involving the Indiana Fever with conversations about fan behavior, after Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson and a Fever fan had a heated altercation on the baseline down the final stretch of the game.
Wilson drew a foul on Fever fan favorite Sophie Cunningham before the verbal altercation with a fan broke out. Security intervened, and Wilson was assessed a technical foul.

After the game, many were left wondering what happened to get that reaction out of the MVP front-runner. During the post-game press conference, Wilson addressed the confrontation and shared her side of the story on what went down after the whistle.

A’ja Wilson Addresses Interaction With Fever Fan
“With the baseline situation,I don’t know if you guys know me, but I don’t really get into the bullsh*t,” Wilson said. “I try to play my game, keep it pushing. But if I’m just walking because I just got the foul, I’m chilling, and if I see a man come at me, taking steps towards me and pointing at me, I don’t give a damn what you said. I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone. That is unacceptable. You don’t step towards me. You never should step and point at me. I’m not for that sh*t. At all. Excuse my French. And God bless me.
“But that there is unacceptable. And how he gets back in the game because they said he didn’t do anything. Of course he didn’t. And that’s fine. And I apologize to my team because I got us a tech. But it’s just certain things that I’m just not going to allow anymore because it’s just unacceptable. So you don’t know me at all to come and step towards me and point at me and say anything out your mouth to me.”

After the incident, Sydney Colson, a guard for the Indiana Fever and former Aces teammate of A’ja Wilson, also went towards the fans to defend her friend. Colson approached the fan and could be seen yelling, “B*tch, who the f*ck you think you are?”
The Fever issued a statement after the altercation, explaining why the fan was not kicked out of the game.
“Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses,” the statement read. “Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct; the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed.”
Regardless of what went down, the two teams will face off again on Thursday night in a do-or-die game at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Vegas. Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. ET on USA Network and CNBC.
