Man Utd release statement confirming injury setback to one Red after ‘complete performance’ on international duty

Manchester United’s media channels have acknowledged the most recent injury blow to the squad in the form of Noussair Mazraoui.

The full-back was withdrawn during Morocco’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho after coming off worse from a collision.

Sport Le 360 said of the Red: “Another great match [from Mazraoui]. Solid in duels, tidy in distribution and as valuable as ever in his anticipation. He also contributed significantly by drifting inside to create numerical superiority in midfield and aid the build-up play.
“A complete performance before he left the pitch due to injury.”
Alas, Michael Carrick will now be sweating over Mazraoui’s condition until United receive further clarification from his national team’s camp.
The 28-year-old faces a hectic campaign of potentially being utilised across the backline, as he is one of only two senior options – along with Patrick Dorgu – who can deputise at left-back if Luke Shaw is unavailable.
Should all three be ruled out, Carrick would have to call upon 19-year-old Harry Amass.

Dorgu has also flagged serious injury concerns himself after his early substitution while in action for Denmark last Sunday.
The youngster saw his shift cut short inside only 30 minutes due to a non-contact scare, which has resulted in the defender-turned-winger having to exit camp and return to Carrington.
Doing so will allow United chiefs to assess the severity of his setback first-hand, rather than waiting for Denmark to do so.
Prior to the break getting underway, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo pulled out of the England squad, while Benjamin Sesko was deemed too much of a risk to represent Slovenia.
