Buffalo Bills host event for families battling pediatric cancer

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Local families battling pediatric cancer were able to play with the Buffalo Bills Tuesday night at the arcade, meeting some of their favorite players.
The Bills and Kaleida Health hosted Crucial Catch Family Fun Night at Dave & Busters, an initiative that encourages early detection and screening.

Organizers said the event was a chance for those affected by cancer to make memories and meet some of their favorite athletes.
"To be able to, you know, partner up with my own team, the Buffalo Bills, as they're making a big community impact, you know, showing up for people that, you know, have experienced hardships in their lives no matter what stage of life you're at, you know, cancer doesn't really have no picks," Bills safety Damar Hamlin said.
"So to be able to just allow people to share a life-changing moment and get to be able to escape their own reality of the things, whatever they're going through, I'm always going to show up for that, any chance I get," Hamlin added.
The event comes ahead of this weekend's Crucial Catch home game against the New England Patriots, in honor of those fighting cancer.
