Watson has been playing in the NFL since 2017, going through his fifth year with the Browns. Following multiple injuries and controversies that hindered his stint in Cleveland, Watson finally regained solid form as the team is off a promising start four weeks into the season.
Not everyone thinks the Browns’ future will have Watson in the cards. Take in point Kimes, who appeared on ESPN to express her thoughts on the team’s young core of players and state that a young quarterback would benefit from this specific situation.

“When you take a step back, yes, this team with these young players is built to compete now. I think we’re finally seeing that, right? But also next year, this is an extremely desirable situation for a young quarterback to walk into. So successful for the Browns in terms of laying the foundation for the future, when they go out and get another quarterback,” Kimes said.

What lies ahead for Deshaun Watson, Browns
The Browns will take what they can get out of Deshaun Watson this season. As long as he maintains the form he has, the team has potential to be a big surprise team in the AFC.
Watson seems to have gotten back his efficiency as a passer, allowing for Cleveland’s offense to be active. He has completed 80 out of 115 passes for 855 yards and six touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing 31 times for 127 yards.
Cleveland has a 3-1 record to start the 2026 campaign, controlling the top spot in the AFC North Division standings. They are above the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals at the moment.
Rolling with three consecutive wins, the Browns will look forward to their next matchup. They take on the New York Jets in Week 5 as kickoff commences on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. ET.
