OKC Comets win first Triple-A National Championship in extra innings vs Rochester

After trailing for much of the game, the OKC Comets rallied with five straight runs to stun Rochester 5-3 in 10 innings to win the Triple-A National Championship game in Las Vegas late Saturday night.
It’s OKC’s first Triple-A championship, coming in its second appearance in four seasons. OKC lost the 2023 game.
This time, things broke the Comets’ way late.
Rochester (90-59) took a 2-0 lead after two innings against starter Emmet Sheehan.
OKC (90-60) responded in the eighth with a run-scoring single by Mike Sirota and a RBI double by Ryan Fitzgerald to tie the game.
In the 10th, Alek Thomas laced a bases-loaded double into the left-center gap to clear the bases.
Rochester plated a run in the bottom of the inning on a double play but right-hander Seth Halvorsen locked down his ninth save of the season by striking out Leandro Pineda.
“It’s been such a cool year,” Thomas told MLB Network following the game. “A lot of things happened to me and I just continued to push through. The Dodgers organization helped me with a lot of things. I’m very blessed to be with these guys.”
Thomas finished 2 for 3 at the plate. Former Oklahoma State star Zach Ehrhard finished 3 for 5.
The Comets closed the season winning 21 of their final 25 games.
