Volleyball: South finishes MHC season at 6-1

South Decatur needed just three sets to knock off Waldron in Mid-Hoosier Conference volleyball Tuesday. The Lady Cougars won 25-20, 25-15, 25-19 to improve to 12-4 on the season and finish conference play at 6-1.

For the Lady Cougars, Dalilah Martin tallied a team-high 15 digs, two aces and four kills. Laney Seegers finished with 13 digs. Liz Bennett added 11 digs and five kills. Raegan Benge had eight digs and a team-high 24 assists. Riley Benge finished with two aces, one solo block and six kills. Taylor Somers had a big night at the net with 17 kills and one solo block. Kennedy Sundal put down four kills.
North at Greensburg
The Lady Pirates hosted the first leg of County Week Tuesday, battling North Decatur. With the opening set all square at 22-22, Greensburg scored three straight points to win the first set 25-22. The Lady Pirates used that momentum to win the next two sets 25-18, 25-12 and the match.
The Lady Pirates improve to 14-1 on the season and host South Decatur Thursday. The Lady Chargers drop to 11-6.
For the Lady Chargers, Miley Scudder, who passed 1,000 career kills earlier this week, tallied 14 kills, one block and 10 digs. Sarah Moeller added 10 kills and a team-high 20 digs. Lanee Rennekamp dished out 27 assists to go with 11 digs and one ace. Brynlee Green had five kills, two aces and four digs. Avery Weisenbach had one kill. Zoey Bingham had one block. Eliza Kennelly added 14 digs and two assists. Sara Litmer had seven digs, and Ellie Johnson added one dig.
Stats for Greensburg were unavailable at press time.
Greensburg won the junior varsity contest 25-10, 25-16.
Batesville
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 16-4 with a 25-14, 25-17, 25-8 victory against South Ripley.
Madelyn Haskamp and Brooke Wilhelm both had nine kills to lead Batesville. Katie Wilhelm and Molly Gesell both had seven kills followed by Margaret Jelinek five, Raegan Hixson two, Jersey Trenkamp one and Abby Miller one.
Brooke Wilhelm had a team-high 16 assists followed by Katie Wilhelm 13, Madelyn Dierckman three, Gesell two, Haskamp one and Jelinek one. Brooke Wilhelm also had a team-high three aces followed by Katie Wilhelm two, Dierckman one and Jelinek one.
Haskamp tallied a team-high six blocks. Brooke Wilhelm and Haskamp both had two blocks. Katie Wilhelm, Trenkamp and Gesell all had one block. Dierckman led Batesville with 16 digs followed by Katie Wilhelm 13, Brooke Wilhelm 11, Haskamp seven, Jelinek six, Caitlyn Fox six, Trenkamp two, Gesell two and Hixson one.
