San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has opened up about playing alongside new teammate Mike Evans. Evans and Kittle are both considered among the best players in their respective positions and are future Pro Football Hall of Famers.
Evans entered free agency this summer after 12 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and signed a three-year, $60.4 million deal with the 49ers. The wide receiver was a direct replacement for Brandon Aiyuk, who was controversially released by San Francisco.

George Kittle explains why playing alongside Mike Evans is a ‘dream come true’
George Kittle was delighted with the San Francisco 49ers’ offseason addition of Mike Evans. The 32-year-old is now fortunate enough to play alongside future Hall of Famers Evans and Trent Williams in Kyle Shanahan’s elite offense.
“I think Mike Evans would work in any offense because of how good he is,” Kittle said on The Rich Eisen Show. “It’s pretty incredible… I got really lucky. I got to play with Trent Williams, a Hall of Famer, and still plays like a Hall of Famer. Mike Evans is a Hall of Famer and still plays like a Hall of Famer.
“When you add guys like that, it’s just so much fun. Every time we call a play and I know Mike has a chance of getting the ball, I’m like, ‘Ha, this is so sick.’ Brock Purdy is throwing the ball to Mike Evans, and I’m blocking for him. What a dream come true.”
Kittle only caught two passes for 12 receiving yards against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1, but he bounced back with four receptions for 80 yards in Week 2. Meanwhile, Evans has had around 50 receiving yards in both games, helping the 49ers to a 2-0 start.
