With reports continuing to suggest that the Boston Red Sox could be interested in a guy like Ketel Marte, and reports also indicating that he could be available, it leads to the question of whether that's a possible trade that could come to light this winter.

Marte was in a very strange position last year with the Arizona Diamondbacks, with some making it seem like he quit on his team at one point throughout the year.

It still remains somewhat uncertain what really happened in that situation, though it's not unfair to say that Marte didn't handle it properly, or the team didn't.

Whatever the problem was, it doesn't really seem to be solved, leading to even more optimism that a trade could potentially be on the table for the Red Sox.

“Last offseason, Marte was one of the biggest names connected to Boston. At the time, the Red Sox were looking for a boost in the infield, but the Diamondbacks didn't end up moving Marte. The Red Sox missed out on Alex Bregman and didn't make a splash with Marte.

“Offensively, Marte would give the Red Sox the boost that they need. If the Red Sox were to make a run at him, Mead could easily be shifted to designated hitter,” Patrick McAvoy wrote.

I feel like Marte being traded to any contending team would completely change a lineup, especially in Boston.

There's a strong argument to be made that he's among the best players in all of Major League Baseball, and he's continued to prove that over the past couple of years.

Even in what was considered a somewhat down year for Marte, he still hit 22 home runs and posted a 107 OPS+. He wasn't anywhere near as good as he was the year before with a 147 OPS+ and 28 home runs, but he's still an elite offensive player and, for the Red Sox, would be a perfect addition to what they could use in the infield.
