Four straight wins and sitting in the number two seed in the AFC. That’s where the Denver Broncos are heading into Week 9, which means the national media has to start paying attention and most did in their power rankings this week.

If I had to be honest with where each team is at in the NFL, I would probably put the Broncos somewhere around 4th and 5th right now. I think the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears are all playing more complete football right now. From there, you could split hairs between our Broncos and teams like the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.

If Denver keeps winning, however, they’ll continue be harder and harder to ignore. The media will be forced to start bo-lieving in this football team team.

Here’s how the Broncos are doing in this week’s power rankings around the web:

NFL.com – 6th

Denver recorded a huge win over the Chiefs with a frantic fourth-quarter comeback that should give Broncos fans hope the team can climb out of its offensive struggles before long. There were signs that it’s starting to turn for the better: Bo Nix pushed the ball downfield successfully a few times, Jonah Coleman broke out in a fashion that usually leads to an increase in importance, and the defense once again finished the job. If the Broncos can follow this trajectory, they’ll round into top form by December — and thanks to Sunday’s triumph, they’ll be right in the thick of the race for the AFC West crown.

NBC Sports – 4th

They out-chiefed the Chiefs.

ESPN – 4th

The Broncos acquired Hall of Famer Gary Zimmerman just before the start of the 1993 regular season, so the wayback machine had to be fired up to get to the best in-season trade. The Broncos acquired Moses from the Bills via a one-for-one swap for Dwight Harrison. Moses played nine full seasons for the Broncos after the 1972 season, averaging at least 17 yards a catch in eight of those years and having 44 total touchdown catches. He is in the team’s Ring of Fame and played on the franchise’s first Super Bowl team in 1977.

Yahoo Sports – 9th

The idea that the Broncos could make a big move for Jonathan Taylor is dubious only because Sean Payton’s history of using committees at running back without a standout workhorse. And the team has to be intrigued by rookie Jonah Coleman, who has played well and came up with two big plays to give Denver the lead in a huge win over the Chiefs on Sunday.

Perhaps Taylor or another big-time back could solve some issues on the offense. Or maybe it’s a receiver or a tight end, after the Evan Engram signing in 2025 has been a dud. Even some depth on the offensive line isn’t a bad idea. The Broncos are set on defense, so their focus can be how to add an impact piece to an inconsistent offense.

USA Today – 3rd

If they don’t have your respect yet, then how about this nugget – they’ve won five consecutive home games against former league MVPs. This 6-2 squad has also survived the most brutal stretch of its schedule and is set up to coast to another AFC West crown if it can take care of business.

Fox Sports – 2nd

I’ve still got my worries about Bo Nix. At some point, the Broncos are going to need a lot more from him. But he’s doing enough right now, especially for a team that can’t run the ball effectively. He makes enough big plays — though usually they are short passes that someone turns into a big play — and doesn’t make many big mistakes. In fact, he’s gone five straight games without an interception. With a coach like Sean Payton and a defense playing as well as the Broncos’ is, that’s more than enough. For now.

CBS Sports – 5th

They have a lot of late-game magic to win games. That formula has worked for this team, but for how long?

NY Times – 3rd

The rookie running back led Denver in rushing (41) and receiving (63) yards on Sunday and is a delight to watch, but the hot rumor coming out of this game was that the Broncos might be in the Jonathan Taylor trade discussions. If that comes to fruition, the offense will be better, but we’ll miss Coleman.
