There were fireworks in the Pacific Northwest on Monday night as the Chicago Bears sealed a statement win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Fireworks both metaphorically and literally, were on offer at Lumen Field as the reigning Super Bowl champions were humbled by Ben Johnson’s tricky offense. However, it was the fireworks prior to kickoff that had NFL fans talking online.

Monday Night Football rolled into Seattle and it was not Troy Aikman and Joe Buck’s fractured relationship that stole the headline this time. It was the mistimed fireworks at Lumen Field that struck one of the helicopters during the stadium flyover ahead of the game.

It was a night to forget for Seattle fans as they watched their side come undone at the hands of the Bears. However, Sam Darnold’s shaky performance was not the only concern on the night as fans were left shocked by the mistimed fireworks display.

‘Pyro guy gettin’ fired,’ replied one fan after seeing the footage on X.

‘Somebody in the control room is having the worst Monday night of their life,’ said another.

The fireworks were not the only mistimed launches of the night as Darnold sealed the loss for the Seahawks by throwing an interception in the fourth quarter. With a late comeback still possible, the interception deep in Seattle territory was the last thing Mike Macdonald’s team needed.

‘This could’ve been bad,’ added another.

Another fan simply replied: ‘Scary’.

Perhaps this was a sign for Seattle that things were not going to go as planned on Monday night against the Bears. The Seahawks are now 4-4 on the year as a place in the postseason is certainly being threatened by their inability to muster up an offense outside of Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

‘Yeaa this is happening too often now,’ said another fan online.

‘Fireworks are more accurate than Darnold tonight!’ another fan joked.
