San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama has an argument as the best player in the NBA, but he’s also gained a large contingent of fans for his willingness to be outspoken on social issues.

Wembanyama has made no shortage of enemies in Portland, Oklahoma City, and New York City for borderline dirty plays and questionable moments in the media last year during his run to the NBA Finals, but he took things to another level this week.

During an interview with 60 Minutes, the forward, who is French, took a clear shot at American culture, after previously speaking out against America’s treatment of immigrants and even its celebrity culture.

“I think the social interactions are more shallow here, more not as in depth as what I’ve seen in other countries,” Wembanyama said in part.

Longtime NBA commentator Wosny “Big Wos” Lambre is over it, and made that abundantly clear on his podcast The Big Wos Show this week.

“This dude thinks he’s smarter, better, he just thinks he’s better than us. Period,” Lambre said.

I’m sorry, I’ve been to Paris before. Fine people, it’s a fine country. I loved my experience there. I didn’t find that I was meeting a bunch of Platos in waiting, [like] it was nothing but philosophers on every street corner,” Lambre laughed.

“Like, who does this guy think he is? I’m just sick of his — and this goes beyond the French, sort of we-invented-culture arrogance — it goes beyond that. Wemby is just like, ‘Americans are stupid.’ They are beneath me and my mental facilities. And I’m just like buddy, realistically, where are you hanging out at? Who are you hanging out with that you’re having all these shallow conversations with?”

At the core of it,  Lambre’s issue is about what he perceives as a superiority complex coming from Wembanyama.

“I’m good off of bro’s whole media personality,” Lambre said. “And I get it, he does come off as a very thoughtful young person, which is, that’s dope. It’s nice to have conscientious young people who give a f*ck about sh*t and like to actually think about the world outside of their own individual existence within it.

“I respect that, but … you are not the smartest man in America. Shut the f*ck up. Thank you very much.”
