For the second time in as many days, a five-star Class of 2027 basketball recruit came off the board Oct. 30.

And, yet again, Louisville and Kentucky will go down as nothing more than finalists.
DeMarcus Henry, a 6-foot-7 wing who ranks third in the cycle on the 247Sports Composite, picked North Carolina over the Cardinals, the Wildcats and Arkansas.
Henry is the son of former NFL wide receiver Chris Henry. He was a MaxPreps Junior All-America honorable mention after averaging 12.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona, during the 2025-26 season.
"Henry is a big lefty wing who combines physical tools with an ascending skill-set," 247Sports scouting director Adam Finkelstein wrote in a July 18 evaluation of the five-star's game. "Standing at 6-foot-7 with a 6-foot-11 wingspan and an increasingly strong frame that should really blow up in the coming years, he has terrific measurables. He's also a smooth natural mover who covers the court effortlessly and can slide his feet. He has shown good natural touch since he was younger and clean shooting mechanics when he's in rhythm. So, while there have been glaring two-way tools for years, Henry is now starting to put them all together and turn them into consistent production."
UofL and UK missed on five-star point guard Reese Alston on Oct. 29. He ultimately chose LSU.
As it stood Oct. 30, Pat Kelsey and Mark Pope both had one commitment secured in the Class of 2027. For Louisville, that's four-star forward Ferlandes Wright. For Kentucky, that's five-star wing Ryan Hampton.
College basketball's early signing period runs Nov. 11-18.
