Dolphins fans losing faith in Malik Willis, team
· Yahoo Sports
The Miami Dolphins are on their bye week, enjoying their lone off-weekend of the year after a 0-5 start. This season was expected to be a down year in South Florida, with the franchise resetting everything from the team’s president, through the general manager and front office, on to the coaching staff, and down to the roster. Miami has undergone a massive turnover.

Fans have been feeling positive about the team’s direction despite the losses, but where do they stand during the bye week? And with a quarter of the season complete, how are fans feeling about quarterback Malik Willis, who signed as a free agent in the offseason?
Can Miami turn around and spark a run coming out of the bye?
According to FanDuel Sportsbook odds, the team is still expected to finish with 4.5 wins this season (-750 on the under).
Dolphins fan confidence
Fans still seem to believe in the Dolphins’ direction as we work through the bye, but there was a significant drop-off between Weeks 5 and 6. Last week, our weekly SB Nation Reacts fan confidence survey reached a season-high, with 87 percent of the fans saying they think the Dolphins are headed in the right direction. This week, that number fell to 71 percent.
While the result still shows that more than 7 out of 10 fans believe Miami is on the right track in their rebuild, the drop from nearly 9 out of 10 is significant. The Dolphins did not show the kind of growth from Week 5 to Week 6 that they showed between each of the first five weeks, which is concerning.
What adjustments can the coaching staff and players make for Week 7 and beyond? Will fan confidence keep falling after the bye? After the team’s Week 7 game against the New York Jets?

Malik Willis grade
The NFL calendar now includes an 18-week regular season, with 17 games scheduled. There is no easy way to break down the season into quarter reviews, but with the Week 6 bye, it is simple to treat Miami’s first five games as the first quarter. With that in mind, we also asked you to grade Willis’s performance over the first quarter(-ish) of the season.
You clearly are not happy with it.
There was not a single vote for an “A” grade. A majority of the fans (50.4 percent) rated Willis’ first five games with the Dolphins as a “D”. Add another 22 percent who think Willis has failed thus far, and you get a picture of a fanbase that is not happy with the quarterback.
Head coach Jeff Hafley has said he is not considering a change at quarterback, but Willis’ play has to turn around quickly if the fans are going to think he is anything more than a one-year rental for the rebuild.
