Texas put up another monster 35-4 season in 2025-26, solidifying themselves as a force in the SC.
Madison Booker ran the show for Vic Schaefer, looking like a total nightmare for defenses every night. But across the country, the competition was ridiculous, with high hopes for JuJu Watkins at USC, while Sarah Strong was proving why she’s the ultimate game-changer at UConn.
Schaefer skipped the usual media fluff. Asked where his top star ranks, the Texas boss gave a straight answer, dropping a five-word line that instantly set off debates across the sport.
He said: “In my mind, Madison Booker is the best player in the country. Every night when we take the floor, I feel pretty good about that.”
Madison Booker was the engine for Texas in 2025-26, putting up 18.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists a night on over 50% shooting. She claimed SEC Tournament MVP honors, secured First-Team AP All-American status, and took home her third consecutive Cheryl Miller Award.
However, whether she’s the best in college hoops is up for debate, with so many names to choose from.
