Langevin shines in tie with No. 5 Minnesota Duluth

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AUGUSTANA) – Augustana skated to a 1-1 tie with No. 5 Minnesota Duluth on Saturday night in Midco Arena. Augustana made 34 saves and held Minnesota Duluth scoreless on two power plays while being outshot 35-22.
Mathis Langevin handled early pressure in the first period, stopping Luke Bibby, Jayson Shaugabay, and Barrett Hall before Augustana generated chances from Hunter Bischoff and Owen Baumgartner that Carl Axelsson stopped. Minnesota Duluth got the first power play when Jacob Fletcher was called for hooking at 12:53, but Langevin turned away attempts from Ty Hanson, Zam Plante and Hall before the penalty expired. Langevin added two saves on Hunter Anderson in the final two minutes and another on Callum Arnott with 37 seconds left, while Augustana had late blocked shots from Samo Meritähti and Leonid Bulgakov as the first period finished scoreless.

After Langevin handled several early Minnesota Duluth chances, Augustana struck first at 16:16 when Bulgakov scored at even strength off assists from Hayden Hennen and Landon Fandel. Minnesota Duluth pressed back with a run of attempts and tied it at 13:22 on Hunter Anderson’s even-strength goal, with Ty Hanson and Zam Plante credited with assists. Augustana generated pressure later in the period, including two power-play chances after Aaron Pionk penalties, but Carl Axelsson stopped the shots that reached him and the second period ended with the game tied 1-1.
Augustana generated the first third-period chances through Hayden Hennen, Bulgakov, and Fandel before Minnesota Duluth answered with a stretch of shots from Aaron Pionk, Luke Bibby, and Carter Murphy.
