Defences stand firm in Palace clash:
Leeds’ quality at the back saw our defenders each score at least five points in Gameweek 5. Gabriel Gudmundsson (£4.5m), Nico Elvedi (£4.5m) and Tarik Muharemović (£5.0m) all scored six points, with Jayden Bogle (£4.6m) finishing on five due to his booking. Meanwhile, James Justin (£4.5m) rewarded his FPL managers with eight points courtesy of the clean sheet and two bonus points.
James Trafford (£5.0m) was the highest-scoring Leeds player in the fixture. He earned himself 10-points thanks to his clean sheet, one save point, two appearance points and the maximum of three bonus points.
In midfield, Anton Stach (£6.0m) and Ethan Ampadu (£5.4m) both earned extra Defensive Contribution points. Defensive Contribution points are registered by midfielders if they complete 12 of more defensive actions (tackles won, clearances, blocks, interceptions and ball recoveries) in a single game. Stach and Ampadu registered 13 and 14 defensive actions respectively, earning them both two additional points meaning they both finished the gameweek on five points each.
Player Spotlight: James Trafford (£5.0m)
Fresh from his two starts in England colours over the international break, FPL managers will be keen to see Trafford continue his great start to the season. The goalkeeper is Leeds’ second-highest scorer in FPL this term with a total of 28-points. Gameweek 5 brought Trafford’s first double-digit return of the season. He racked up five saves in the match, meaning he earned himself a save point. FPL rewards goalkeepers with an extra point for every three saves they make in a game, with the 23-year-old earning these in every single game so far this campaign.
Trafford ranks first amongst goalkeepers for the most saves made over the first five gameweeks of the season. The Leeds shot-stopper has made 20 saves. He is the third-highest scoring goalkeeper in the entire game overall and remains a great differential given his relatively low ownership of just 5.5 per cent.
Best of the rest:
Manchester City’s Antoine Semenyo (£8.4m) and Sunderland’s Brian Brobbey (£5.7m) were the highest overall scorers of Gameweek 5, each with 17-points. The City man grabbed two goals, an assist and two bonus points, while the Black Cats’ forward scored a hat-trick and took home the three bonus points in an eight-goal thriller between the two teams.
Coventry City’s budget-friendly Jay Dasilva (£4.0m) wasn’t far behind with 15-points. Backed by just 0.7 per cent of FPL managers, he was the highest scoring defender of the Gameweek, owing to a goal, a clean sheet and three bonus points.
Looking towards Gameweek 6, Brighton’s in-form man Pascal Groß (£5.9m) has been transferred in by more than 830,000 managers, while fellow German, Kevin Schade (£6.2m) of Brentford, and Groß’s teammate, Charalampos Kostoulas (£5.6m), have seen more than 417,000 and 335,000 transfers in respectively.
