Oregon's Dan Lanning Has High Praise for Dylan Raiola's Preparation

Right now, it's still unclear when Oregon star quarterback Dante Moore will return.

With Oregon facing some tough games coming up, including one on Saturday against an above-average UCLA team ranked 21st in the country, guys will need to step up in a major way with Moore out. Obviously, the biggest name is Dylan Raiola, the former five-star quarterback who transferred from Nebraska to Oregon over the offseason.

Raiola transferring to Oregon was one of the biggest transfer-portal storylines, as he didn't just give Oregon a decent backup, but arguably one of the better starting quarterbacks in college football the season prior. With Dan Lanning and his offensive mind, there's a lot to be excited about with Raiola, and he showed that against USC.

As for how he can keep stepping up, Lanning didn't have much to say beyond Raiola needing to stay the same type of guy he's been throughout this process.

If he can continue to play at the level he did against USC, Oregon is going to be just as difficult to beat as any team in the country, even if its starting quarterback isn't ready to play.

"No, there isn't a shift. I mean, if he can just play like he played every single time last time, I think we'd be sitting in a really good situation.

“So Dylan's got to keep doing what he's been doing, preparing like he's going to be the guy that goes out there every single day, and we need that from every single person on our team. But we don't need anything special from Dylan, other than doing what he's been doing,” Lanning said, per Ducks Wire.

In two games this season, as Raiola came in against Portland State in Oregon's 84-0 win, as well as that USC game when he completed 19 of 25 passes, the Georgia native has put up 413 yards and five touchdowns.

He has a 96.9 QBR and has undoubtedly been the best backup quarterback in America by a wide margin.

Moore is the clear option for Oregon, but it's always good to have a guy like Raiola to fallback on.
