‘For me, it’s another fighter’: Anthony Joshua takes showdown with Tyson Fury in stride

· Yahoo Sports

Just before the kickoff press conference, Anthony Joshua sat down with iFL TV to discuss the circumstances surrounding his upcoming fight with Tyson Fury, the promotion itself, his choice for lead trainer, and more as he looks forward to settling things with Fury on December 11. Here’s some of what he had to say below.

AJ on finally facing Tyson Fury

“For me, it’s another fighter, someone I’m going to get familiar with because I’m going to be watching them a lot more but, no, nothing surreal about doing what I’m built and what I’m trained to do.”

On his position about Dana White’s involvement in the fight

“So, my loyalty is with Eddie. There’s nothing against Dana, at all. I don’t know Dana to have anything against him but my honor and loyalty in this situation stands with Eddie Hearn.”

On working with Ben Davison as lead trainer for this fight

“I’ve taken myself around the world and I’ve learned from so many different coaches and also teamed up with so many different fighters. I’ve been in the gym with them, whether that be Errol Spence, whether that be Oleksandr Usyk, whether that be Derek Chisora I’ve been around, whether that be with Don Charles or whoever it may be I’ve been around.

“I just thought when I sat down, I believed that Ben Davison and his team will add to what I’m planning on doing and I spoke with Ben and I see if it was possible that we could team up and work together for this fight and he agreed. And I believe it will lead me to execute what I know my strengths are.”

On whether he’s satisfied with the drug testing situation for this fight

“It could’ve been better but we’re here. I’ve fought people that have been on drugs and they found it after. So, it shows you drugs aren’t enough to beat a man like me. But, it is what it is. It’s not ideal but young fighters coming up, make sure you invest in VADA testing because it could protect you.”

On Fury having top billing

“I let him have it. They asked me. I let him have it. As I said, it’s the loudest who hold the least power. I let him have that and that’s why they was able to post it. So, there we go again.”
