Lady Lions place 5th at New Palestine Sectional

Monday, the Lady Lions traveled to The Links Golf Club in New Palestine to compete in the IHSAA Sectional. The Lady Lions placed fifth in the 10-team field.
Mt. Vernon (Fortville) won the sectional title with 343. New Palestine was second with 375 and Greenfield-Central was third with 391.

Those three teams advance to the regional Saturday at Edgewood Country Club in Anderson. The top three individuals from non-advancing teams also qualify for the regional.
Eastern Hancock finished fourth with 396 followed by Rushville 448, Shenandoah 463, Knightstown 493, Morristown incomplete, Triton Central incomplete and Tri incomplete.
Leading the way for Rushville was Ella Tressler with 96. That put Tressler as the second overall individual from non-advancing teams and qualifies her for the regional. Also competing for Rushville were Peyton Jessup with a personal best 112, Lily Miller with 119, Liv Naylor with 121 and Felicity Anderson with137.
Eastern Hancock's Abby Kihlstrum (89) and Aubrey Whittington (98) also advance to the regional as individuals.
The Lady Lions complete their season with a record of 10-8 in 9-hole matches, along with a 10th place and a pair of fifth place finishes in 18-hole events.
