‘His Training Staff Failed Him’ — 49ers Legend Spreads the Blame Around as Commanders Star Jayden Daniels’ Injury Concerns Refuse to Go Away
· Yahoo Sports
The Washington Commanders’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys was not the only setback head coach Dan Quinn suffered in Week 2. Quarterback Jayden Daniels went down with a dislocated left elbow and is expected to miss the next couple of weeks.
According to San Francisco 49ers legend Terrell Owens, the Commanders’ training staff is to blame for the injury.

Terrell Owens Takes Aim at Commanders’ Training Staff After Jayden Daniels’ Injury
Daniels suffered the injury on the final play of the first half, with the Commanders trailing 17-10. His attempt to score a touchdown did not go as planned, as he landed awkwardly on his elbow.
Veteran backup Marcus Mariota took over for the remainder of the game. Experts and analysts, meanwhile, were critical of the way Daniels suffered the injury.
This was not the first time Daniels suffered an elbow injury. A similar incident occurred against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9 of the 2025 season. He dislocated the same elbow, causing him to miss seven games across two separate stretches. The recurring nature of Daniels’ injury was a red flag for Terrell Owens.
While speaking with Chris Spencer on the “Get TO The Point” podcast, Owens questioned the Commanders’ training staff’s rehab plan for Daniels.
“You can go back and be like, oh, he should have done this, or they should have done that. This has nothing to do with that. I think his training staff failed him,” Owens said during Wednesday’s episode.

“To be honest, this elbow that he dislocated, his non-throwing hand. You just had a horrific injury last year that took you out. What I don’t know is what rehab he did over the summer.
“I’m not a doctor by any means. I think his training staff failed him. He has to police himself to understand, like, you know what you needed to do during the offseason to better and improve and rehab on the injuries from years prior,” he added.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Daniels will be out for at least two to three weeks, with a clearer picture expected after further evaluation of the injury.

After Daniels went down, Mariota put together a solid individual performance, throwing for 111 yards and a touchdown. However, his comeback attempt fell short as the Commanders lost to the Cowboys 37-20.
With two losses in a row, Washington is now ranked No. 27 in PFN’s NFL Team Impact Rankings.
Next up, they will face the Seahawks on September 27 at Maryland.
