Could the Chargers land a top-10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft?

While it's way too early in the season to make any declaration like that, ESPN's Ben Solak believes the Chargers will land a top-10 pick by April's draft.
"I can't name 10 teams worse than the Chargers (0-2) through two weeks. I'm not even sure if I can name five," Solak said.
"There is nothing about the Chargers that works right now. They remind me of the Nathaniel Hackett-led Broncos in 2022. I have no idea what they're working on at practice throughout the week."
Things certainly aren't looking up for the Chargers after Week 2.
They suffered yet another embarrassing home loss to a team that won just three games last year. Not only have they lost twice in a row to start the season, but they've also looked flat, uninspiring and sloppy against "lesser opponents."
Now comes the toughest part of their schedule, starting with the Bills in Week 3. Their schedule from Week 3 to Week 10 is a gauntlet, and Solak said he wouldn't be surprised if they end up 2-7 after that stretch.
"A record of 2-7 (or worse) feels a lot more likely, and that is still charitable," Solak wrote.
"Through two weeks, the Chargers look as if they've never practiced together. Herbert lets bad plays spiral and is more visibly skittish, frustrated and confused than I can remember seeing him."
The Chargers have had a top-10 pick 26 times in franchise history, most recently in 2024, when they selected offensive tackle Joe Alt at No. 5 overall.
