The Baltimore Orioles may fall short of a postseason berth.
They are five games behind the Chicago White Sox for the third and final American League Wild Card spot with just six games left.
Already, Baltimore's front office may have turned its attention to the offseason.
Signing All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso was one of the best free agency moves of last winter.
Alonso has had a great season, but it hasn't been enough to pick up the pitching staff's slack.
Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller wrote that the Orioles should do their best to improve the rotation heading into next season.
"And with both Trevor Rogers and Chris Bassitt headed for free agency this winter, those controllable players had better be candidates for the 2027 starting rotation," Miller wrote.
"As is, they're looking at Shane Baz, Brandon Young and Kyle Bradish as their main trio for next season, which sounds like the recipe for another year in the AL East basement," he added.

The Orioles should have some level of interest in re-signing Rogers, who posted a 4.07 ERA in 29 starts after finishing ninth in Cy Young voting in 2025.
As for Bassitt, they'll likely let the 37-year-old walk.
Whatever happens during the upcoming offseason, Miller believes they cannot stand idle and watch reliable, proven starters come off the board.
The Orioles should be aggressive in their pursuit of talented arms.
