The NBA is making the rounds with regard to finding the suitors who want to have teams in Las Vegas and Seattle. For the former, there is major interest with any bids in the fold.

“There’s real excitement around T-Mobile Arena,” said Silver, referencing the Las Vegas venue that houses several sporting events, including the NBA Cup for the first three years of its existence. “I think everyone acknowledges if a team were to stay there, it needs some significant improvements.
“But at the same time, there are groups who have presented plans to build what I would call a modern entertainment palace in Las Vegas. It’s a unique market where you could truly see essentially 365-day-a-year activity.”

With Las Vegas and Seattle firmly in the West, it would result in Minnesota or Memphis as candidates to move over to the East.
Silver also noted Seattle already having an arena quite suitable for NBA games. Despite this, he also mentioned the process requiring more time on that front before giving the city its first season since the Seattle SuperSonics departed in 2008 for Oklahoma to become the present-day Oklahoma City Thunder.
“It’s a much longer timeline before we can throw the ball up for NBA basketball,” according to Silver.
NBA fans will continue to keep track of the progress in Las Vegas and Seattle. Once the situations are finalized, they can look forward to inaugural seasons for the incoming franchises.
