I scratch my head at the scheduling of such as Villanova.
What can be learned from such a scrimmage?
What did we learn last night?
That the New Kid in Town, the signal caller from the Heartland, Lincoln Kienholz could be, might be, is possibly JB’s TP QB who can finally lead the Red & Black to the Promised Land.
He is wobbly early. Last night it only lasted one series against a lesser foe than the first.
But when it really matters, when the game’s on the line, when he’s a man on the run, eyes downfield, when Tre Richardson and Jaleel Skinner and Treyshun Hurry and Lawayne McCoy are improvising on their routes against top shelf coverage, will the connection be there?
Against Nova, it was. The numbers impress. Seven to Richardson, five to Skinner, three to Hurry, three to McCoy.
Kienholz booked 332 in the air. Two for tallies.
But at the critical juncture that surely will come against similarly aspirational SMU, a school U of L has never beaten, will there be connection?

Isaac Brown continues to be less than. Is it lingering injury, or lack of openings?
How “nicked” is Kejuan Brown?
Was Marquise Davis’s 7 for 86 and two scores a real coming out? Or just that he was beneficiary of lining up against DII 2d and 3d teamers?
How worried should we be abut the secondary when Villanova can score on a 65 yard strike? Even if it was sandwiched by Louisville aerial assaults of 69 and 61 yards.
Against better opponents can we expect such counters?
