2027 four-star recruit Amisha Ramlall decommits from Gophers

Class of 2027 four-star shooting guard Amisha Ramlall, who stars for Rosemount High School with her two sisters, has decommitted from the University of Minnesota, she announced on Friday.

“After a lot of thought and conversations with my family, I have decommitted from the University of Minnesota and reopen my recruitment,” she wrote. “I’m extremely grateful to Coach Plitzuweit and the Minnesota staff for their support and belief in me. I’m excited for the next step.”

Ramlall, who is heading into her senior season at Rosemount, was the lone 2027 commit for Dawn Plitzuweit and the Gophers. She ranks as a top-50 recruit in the country and the No. 2 player in her class in the state of Minnesota, per 247 Sports, narrowly behind Ohio State-bound wing Mya Wilson (Hill-Murray).
This is a tough blow for the Gophers, who landed Ramlall’s commitment all the way back in December 2024. It’ll be interesting to see where she ends up instead and how Plitzuweit and the Gophers pivot.
Ramlall and her sisters helped lead Rosemount to its first-ever girls basketball state title this past spring. Her twin sister Arshia committed to St. Cloud State this summer. Ashna, who is a rising junior, holds several major Division I offers.
It’s a bit of a surprise to see Amisha’s decommitment, considering some of her previous quotes about her college decision.
“I always wanted to go to Minnesota,” Ramlall said this spring, via CBS Minnesota. “Obviously, it’s close to home. I want to be close to my family, and then academics are amazing, coach is amazing, players are absolutely amazing, look at them right now. I know they’re definitely going to do amazing things. … Just watching (their Sweet 16 run), I was smiling to myself like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m going to play for this team.'”
With that said, players are obviously allowed to change their mind.
This upcoming season has the chance to be a very exciting one for the Gophers, who added several exciting transfers and first-year players to a returning core led by Tori McKinney, Mara Braun, and Grace Grocholski. They should have a real chance to get back to the Sweet 16 and maybe even go deeper into the tournament.
The Gophers will have at least two open roster spots for the 2027-28 season as fifth-year players Braun and Gracie Merkle (Penn State transfer) exhaust their eligibility.
