Who needs a punter when you have a quarterback like Behren Morton?

The New England Patriots called on the rookie signal caller to step in for Bryce Baringer on a special teams play in the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Those unfamiliar with Morton's background were likely confused by the decision to put him in that spot.

It was a surefire disaster waiting to happen, right?

Wrong.

Morton caught the snap and punted the ball 48 yards to the Eagles on the play. It was a nice punt for a quarterback who served as a specialist in high school. The Patriots currently don't have any competition for Baringer, and they clearly tried out Morton on the play as a possible emergency option.

It worked like a charm.

Of course, the hope is for Morton to never be needed to actually punt the ball in games. But it's good to know that he's capable if a catastrophe ever strikes.
