Moyes calls for more Everton signings before transfer window closes

Everton boss David Moyes has admitted the club still need to add “quite a few players” to the squad before the transfer window closes.

The Toffees have already brought in several new faces this summer, but Moyes believes there is plenty more work still to be done.

“We’re still needing quite a few players to add to the squa. I’d like to do more if possible,” Moyes told Sky Sports.

“We need to see how the remaining few weeks go. We’re well aware of what’s required, and we’re working hard to try and make it happen.”

Tyrique George and Merlin Röhl have both now joined the club on permanent deals this summer following last season’s loans, while Hayden Hackney, Christian Nørgaard and Brennan Johnson have also arrived.

“I’m pleased that the players were brought in. You have to remember, two of them were already here last year, so we’ve just made them permanent,” he added.

“I think it’ll take Hayden a little bit of time to adapt from the Championship to the Premier League, which quite often it does for players coming from the Championship.”

Nørgaard, meanwhile, has been brought in to provide experience in midfield but is currently sidelined through injury.

“Christian is very experienced and will help us replace Idrissa Gana Gueye. Unfortunately, he’s injured at the moment,” Moyes said.

“We’re putting things together, but we certainly feel behind the scenes that we’ve got a long way to go and want to do an awful lot more.”
