Head coach Lane Kiffin, ahead of his first season at the helm, constructed a roster projected amongst the best in the nation. He signed the No. 1 transfer portal class and added multiple five-star true freshmen as part of a 2026 class with a high ceiling.

Five of LSU's opponents were ranked in the opening AP poll. It opens the SEC schedule at No. 9 Ole Miss in Week 3, marking the first time Kiffin will take on his former team. The Tigers return home to face No. 8 Texas A&M during the following week. They lost to the Rebels and Aggies in 2025.

No. 13 Alabama and No. 5 Texas travel to Baton Rouge for matchups in Week 10 and 11, respectively, to finish out LSU's home slate. The purple and gold hit the road for the final two weeks of the regular season, beginning with No. 10 Tennessee in Week 12.
