Rajon Rondo praises LeBron James for choosing to sign with Sixers

· Yahoo Sports

The Philadelphia 76ers have been the talk of the summer following an aggressive couple of moves made by President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey and the staff. The Sixers have completely overhauled a roster that was swept out of Round 2 by the New York Knicks with the big additions of Jaylen Brown and, of course, LeBron James.

After weeks and weeks of deliberation, James decided to sign a 2-year $8 million deal with the Sixers. As he prepares to enter his 24th season, there has been a ton of talk on the decision made by the future Hall of Famer, but for the most part, there has been praise for choosing Philadelphia.

James' former teammate with the Los Angeles Lakers, and adversary when he played for the Boston Celtics, Rajon Rondo joined "The Road Trippin'" podcast and praised James for the move:

Brilliant move. I mean, he's got arguably the best young point guard in the game. I think he averaged 30 points a game this year. Bron is, like, you know, the king on the chessboard. He has a lot of all the pieces, all the right pieces to make the right moves. We all know he's a great basketball player, one of the greatest basketball minds to play the game. If you give him these types of pieces to play with, you know, I'm an early bet with them being the favorites to win in my book. I'm not a bettor, but if I were to bet, I would bet the Sixers early.

Health is always a big question mark for Philadelphia, but with the pieces around him, James can be that big difference-maker for the Sixers. The combination of James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Brown, and VJ Edgecombe is one of the better collections of talent in the league. There is a lot of work to do in terms of building chemistry and making sure they are all on the same page, but Philadelphia will certainly be in the conversation to win the championship in the 2026-27 season.
