Dave Portnoy was quick to announce to the world Friday that he had no belief in LeBron James winning a championship with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Earlier in the day, James shocked the sports world when he announced he’d end his career in Philadelphia. The 41-year-old signed a two-year, $8 million deal to join the 76ers for what will be his 24th and 25th seasons in the NBA.

Moments after the news broke, Portnoy posted a video on X/Twitter to give his immediate reaction. Sitting in what appeared to be a private jet, the Barstool Sports founder explained that he was on his way to Saratoga but wanted to give his initial thoughts on the stunning move. A diehard Boston Celtics fan, Portnoy was elated that James chose Philadelphia and predicted that the team would not have much success.

“I actually f*cking love it,” Portnoy said. “He’s trying to go do a super team. This team is not going to win! This team is not going to win! It’s gonna be f*cking delicious! It’s going to be delicious. You know that — what is that GIF of Cartman licking tears? When this team implodes, and there’s only one basketball, and Embiid has one tendonitis left, and LeBron is huffing and puffing and reading books, and being passive-aggressive — he is going to get booed out of Philly. He is! This guy is going to get booed out of Philly. And Philly, you know you hate this guy. You get exactly what you deserve. This impending implosion is going to be delicious!”

With Portnoy being a Celtics fan, his disdain for all parties involved can be explained through multiple angles. Throughout his career, James has routinely run into the Celtics in the playoffs and has a sort of personal rivalry with the team. He now plays for the 76ers, another frequent opponent of the Celtics that actually eliminated them from the playoffs this past season. Once the season concluded, the Sixers then traded for Celtics star Jaylen Brown.
