Joan Laporta confirms when Barcelona’s offer for Julian Alvarez will expire

Barcelona president Joan Laporta says the club’s offer to Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez will expire at the end of the month.

Laporta has confirmed the club have made a bid but has been told by Atletico CEO Gil Marin that the club won’t sell the Argentina international this summer.

The Barca chief has been asked about Marin’s comments while in the USA for the World Cup final and told RAC1 that it’s likely the club will withdraw the offer at the end of this month.

“I respect everyone’s opinion,” he said.

“All I know is that we made an offer, the offer is there, and at a certain point we will announce that the offer has expired on our end. At the end of July? Probably, yes.”

Alvarez will play in the World Cup final on Sunday and will hope his future can then be resolved. The forward has already said he believes a transfer is best for all parties but it’s still not clear what will happen next.
