Commanders' David Blough 'pumped' to show off Jayden Daniels' growth
· Yahoo Sports
Washington Commanders offensive coordinator David Blough sat down with NFL Insider Ari Meirov earlier this week and answered a slew of questions. Near the end of the interview, Ari Meirov says Jayden Daniels is entering this year with the mindset of "you must have forgotten who I am" mentality. He then asks Blough what we can expect from Daniels in year three, without giving too much away.

"Certainly, and, without giving too much away, I think you drill the man. I think he was incredibly frustrated with how '25 went after a fun '24, and he was ready for a new challenge. So the conversations that he and I have had when we get to sit down, and I get to present new concepts or new ideas or new operations, ways to do things, he has just kind of grabbed it by the horns and ran with it.
"I think it may look a little bit different than he's looked the last two years operating out of the shotgun, kind of in a no-huddle system. So, it may appear a little bit different, but you're going to see somebody who's deadly accurate, whose feet are on time and in rhythm. The best part about it is when we do call a bad play ... he's got the ability to always kind of flip the game with his legs as well.
"The challenge, well, not so much the challenge, but the opportunity we've had is to challenge his mental a little bit as well, and try to push him forward in that space. That's kind of what is really stimulating him now."
Daniels has gone through a lot in his two years in the NFL, and Year 3 could make or break the rest of his career. His mindset is on reminding the league who he is, proving that he can still be an elite quarterback, and that his second year was an injury-riddled fluke.
"I'm really pumped for people to see how much he's grown as a quarterback," Blough said. "And certainly as a leader that everyone can be proud of here in Washington."
Daniels is likely equally as eager to show the NFL world the exact same thing.
