Do Miami Heat Have To Worry About New Team Entering Giannis Antetokounmpo Talks?

The Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic are among the suitors for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

But now there is apparently a new contender in the group. According to the Stein Line, the Minnesota Timberwolves have now entered the competition for the two-time MVP.

The report read: "I'm told that the Timberwolves, for example, indeed circled back to the Bucks this week to see what it would take to make another run at pairing Antetokounmpo with Anthony Edwards."

This could spell more trouble for the Heat. Antetokounmpo has said he wants to play for a championship-ready team. The Timberwolves are just that. It would give them a dream lineup of Antetokounmpo and Edwards, who is one of the league's top 10 players as well. The Timberwolves lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the playoffs last season but made the Western Conference finals the previous two years.

Many feel they are just one player away from winning a championship. Adding Antetokounmpo would put them on par with the Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder in the West.

Despite this most NBA insiders are still pegging the Heat as the favorite to land Antetokounmpo in the next few weeks. They feel Miami has the best trade package, which includes All-Star Tyler Herro, top reserve Jaime Jaquez, budding talent Kel'el Ware and the No. 13 pick in this year's NBA draft.

The Celtics, Magic and Portland Trail Blazers all have solid trade packages as well, but the feeling is Antetokounmpo wants to play for a Hall of Fame coach. Heat team president Pat Riley and coach Erik Spoelstra both fill those needs.

A deal could be made more before the draft because the Bucks would want to know their strategy beforehand, especially considering they would claim the Heat's pick.
