More than 500 volunteers and 350 coaches supported the 850 athletes who competed in basketball, track and field, tennis and swimming events.

The results of weeks of hard work and training were on display as the athletes competed for a chance to advance to the organization’s Summer Games, a statewide competition to be held at Penn State University’s main campus June 6, 7 and 8.

The event will bring together more than 2,000 athletes from three regional divisions to compete statewide in athletics, basketball, gymnastics, swimming and tennis.

Special Olympics Pennsylvania provides year-round training and competition in 21 Olympic-type sports to 15,300 children and adults with intellectual disabilities or closely related developmental disabilities.
