The Buffalo Sabres are the talk of the town.

But really, they're the talk much further than that, including at first base during Monday night's Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins MLB game.

That's in part because of Joe Mack.

Mack attended Williamsville East High School in the Buffalo area, and so when he reached base for the first time during his MLB debut on Monday night, Phillies star Bryce Harper had to bring up the Sabres.

"He asked me about my family and if I have some people here, very nice guy," Mack told reporters postgame Monday. "He asked me about the Sabres and the Buffalo Bills, had a little chat about that, too. It was pretty cool. He's a great guy."

The Sabres won a playoff series for the first time in 19 years, and Mack surely has been watching.

Buffalo's next game is their Eastern Conference semifinal Game 1 on Wednesday at home against the Montreal Canadiens.

Mack might be a bit busy, but he's just adding to the quality sports moment for Western New York.

He didn't get a hit in his MLB debut, but he reached base in his first at bat when a grounder got a force out at second but didn't get Mack back at first.

So after the fielders' choice, Mack got to chat up Harper a bit. It had to be a cool moment for the young catcher, and it's just fun that the Sabres got brought up, too.
