Monday was the first day of legal tampering for the NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers wasted no time in going to work. But the biggest move the team made wasn't free-agency related at all. Wide receiver was a huge need heading into the offseason and General Manger Omar Khan pulled off some early wizardry to land Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.

Full details of the trade emerged on Tuesday and it just reinforces how smart the Steelers front office is and how sound the team's offseason plan is.

For the trade, the Steelers got Pittman Jr. and a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft in exchange for Pittsburgh sending the Colts a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Landing a receiver who has averaged 89 receptions per season over the last five seasons and 950 receiving yards per year during that same stretch.

Pittsburgh traded for Pittman and immediately worked out a three-year contract paying Pittman Jr. $59 million. This marks a big change in spending as the Steelers have now invested heavily in the wide receiver position even though they aren't sure who is playing quarterback this season.
