Gallagher left Atletico to sign for Spurs in the January transfer window, returning to the Premier League for a fee of around £34.6m.
The England international had spent 18 months in La Liga with Atletico, where he became popular with the fanbase despite struggling for a regular role in Simeone’s side.
Gallagher has failed to score in eight league appearances since signing for Spurs, who have been dragged into a relegation battle in the Premier League after an 11-game winless run.
Despite that, Simeone is not underestimating the threat of the former Atletico midfielder, as the clubs meet in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie tomorrow night.
“Very humble, very dangerous. Can play different positions on the pitch,” Simeone said of Gallagher at his pre-match press conference.
“Massive work ethic. He has great behaviour and we have very good memories of his spell at Atletico Madrid.”
