Over the past five years, George Barnett has helped transform the Hawkeyes back into an elite offensive line program, culminating in the unit winning the Joe Moore Award for their efforts in 2025. Now the goal is to keep that standard high, even after some really talented guys head off to the NFL.

One of the best ways to do that is in recruiting, and Iowa got one step closer to adding a high-upside offensive tackle to its 2027 class on Monday. Three-star Mason Halliman took to X on Monday night to share his top six schools, and the Hawkeyes were one of them.

Iowa joins Penn State, Ole Miss, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin as the final six for Halliman. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound tackle is from Frankfort, Illinois, and Lincoln-Way East High School. He's currently listed as the 542nd-best prospect in the 2027 class and the 49th-best offensive tackle according to 247Sports.

If the Hawkeyes land Halliman, he would be the first offensive line recruit for the program in the 2027 class. Iowa has offers out to 12 different 2027 offensive linemen, with ten of them still being uncommitted as of now.

The offensive line position is an important one in Iowa City, and Kirk Ferentz is making sure to keep the cupboard full of talent for Barnett and the rest of the coaching staff. Halliman would be a nice piece to add to that room if they can land him.
