ORCHARD PARK - Monday night when the Buffalo Bills take on the Minnesota Vikings, Josh Allen will be back at the place where his legend first began taking shape.

Buffalo’s only previous visit to U.S. Bank Stadium came in Week 3 of the 2018 season, and for Allen it was just his second NFL start. The odds were stacked against him and the Bills, literally, as the wise guys in Las Vegas installed the Bills as 17-point underdogs.

But the newbie quarterback stunned NFL nation and during the Bills’ 27-6 blowout victory, he authored the first of probably about 100 meme-worthy plays, his never-to-be-forgotten leap over Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr. From that moment on he’s been a nonstop highlight reel.

As is typically his way, he didn’t have much to say about the play because, as we’ve learned, Allen is very much a live-in-the-moment kind of guy, not one to dwell on past performances.

“Honestly, not really,” he said when he was asked if it had crossed his mind that he’s returning to the scene of that first big play.

But he did eventually elaborate when he was asked again about whether he was surprised by the crazy reaction that play got on social media with all the memes and later the t-shirts that were emblazoned with the picture of him leaping over Barr.

"Surprised me, too," he said. "I was a good athlete in college. High school I was not. So as I got older and started to lift more weights, I guess I got a little more athletic. But yeah, I think it was just kind of a surprising thing for me too of what I was able to do, especially early on in the career with the running stuff. I know I still run a little bit now, but that was I think the moment that I was like, 'You know what? I do belong here.'"

He then immediately spun forward and talked about how playing there will be nice in that there won’t be any weather to worry about, though it will be a difficult environment because of the Vikings’ passionate supporters who make that dome among the loudest venues in the NFL.

“They're going to be a loud fan base,” he said. “Them being what their record is and kind of rolling right now, and their defense is playing outstanding football, so we're expecting an extremely loud crowd. That's a really, really good crowd. That's what I do remember about being there, early in that game just how loud it was, and they've got their Skol chant, which is an awesome tradition. It's going to be a fun experience.”
