Florida State center Bradyn Welch-Joiner carted off vs. Boston College

Florida State football suffered a significant blow on its offensive line Saturday when starting center Bradyn Welch-Joiner exited with a leg injury during the first half against Boston College.

Welch-Joiner was injured after a Boston College defensive lineman rolled onto his right leg. The scene silenced Alumni Stadium as players from both teams took a knee while trainers attended to the senior offensive lineman.

He was eventually carted off the field and ruled out for the remainder of the game.

FSU can ill afford to lose Welch-Joiner, who started every game at center this season and serves as one of the offense's veteran leaders.

The transfer lineman is in his first year with the Seminoles after arriving from Purdue. Before Purdue, Welch-Joiner spent two seasons at Auburn, where he earned freshman All-America honors.

Redshirt freshman Chavez Thompson replaced Welch-Joiner at center following the injury.

Despite the loss, FSU remained locked in a tight battle with Boston College, leading 21-17 at the half.

The Seminoles are seeking their first road victory in three seasons under interim coach Rick Stockstill, but the challenge became considerably steeper without one of their most experienced offensive linemen anchoring the line.
