2027 5-star OL discusses his steadfast 'loyalty' to Texas A&M

· Yahoo Sports

With four games remaining during Texas A&M's disastrous 2026 season, much of the conversation surrounding the Aggies' No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, as third-year coach Mike Elko has stated multiple times, is that he believes nearly all of the cycle's 25 commits are firmly committed based on strong relationships, academics, and the program's trajectory.

Among Texas A&M's six five-star commits, offensive linemen Mark Matthews and Kennedy Brown potentially represent the program's next starting offensive tackles, and while Matthews hasn't engaged in a long-form interview as of late, he remains a firm commit, while Kennedy Brown's latest conversation with AggieYell (subscription required) insider Joseph Hastings was quite revealing.

Kennedy Brown has taken over 20 trips to College Station and announced his commitment back in late April. A local product out of Houston, Brown has not considered flipping his commitment at any point during the Aggies' struggles this season, as his strong relationship with Mike Elko and offensive line coach Adam Cushing has held steady.

You can read Hastings's article here, but the overall takeaway was that Kennedy Brown's loyalty remains steadfast and won't be affected, no matter how the Aggies' 2026 season ends up.

“A commitment is a commitment. You can’t leave that,” Brown said. “It’s a sense of building that trust. I mean, shoot, it says a lot. I’ve been committed since April 26… It’s just a sense of loyalty. Knowing that other people around you really do believe in what you can do. When I say loyalty, that’s like everybody else believing.”

At this point, loyalty is everything heading into Early Signing Day, knowing the Aggies could end the year at 4-8 if this level of play continues, while five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson visits Notre Dame this weekend, which could mean something or nothing.
