Eagles pull the plug on Tanner McKee, turn to new QB
· Yahoo Sports
PHILADELPHIA —The Eagles are benching quarterback Tanner McKee for Joe Milton III, according to an ESPN report.
After Jalen Hurts was placed on injured reserve, McKee became the starter in Week 6. He completed 72 of his 114 passes for 638 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions.

McKee finished with a 30.6 QBR and a 76.7 passer rating.
The Eagles have lost the last three games with McKee as the starter, but it’s surprising that they are changing quarterbacks before the bye week.
McKee wasn’t good, but it’s unlikely that Milton will be an upgrade.
“Tanner’s our guy,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said on Monday. “We’re not making any changes there. Again, how do we find solutions? That could be within scheme, that could be within how our schedule is, practice plays. Everything’s on the table for us in that aspect. But right now, this is where we are and we’re trying to find solutions there. We’re looking at everything as far as what we can do differently as coaches.”
The Eagles signed Milton off the Cowboys’ practice squad on Oct. 16 to serve as the backup. He was signed after Andy Dalton declined an offer to re-sign with the team.

After getting drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Milton looked promising in preseason games. He has an NFL starting-caliber arm, but his accuracy and decision making is shaky.
Milton has played in five games during his three-year career, completing 37 of his 53 passes for 424 yards and two touchdowns.
Milton will make his first start of his NFL career on Sunday against the New York Giants.
The Eagles are 2-6 and have lost six consecutive games.
By pulling the plug on McKee, the Eagles are throwing in the towel. Their season is over.
