Joey Gase recorded a 21st-place finish in Sunday's YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, delivering a solid performance in his No. 44 Chevrolet. Gase qualified 38th and faced the challenge of moving through a competitive field during one of NASCAR's most unpredictable races.

The opening stages featured extensive fuel conservation, with several teams choosing to remain in large drafting packs while the RFK Racing Fords pulled away from the field. Gase focused on keeping his Chevrolet competitive while navigating the changing racing conditions.

The race's two major accidents provided opportunities for drivers running deeper in the field to improve their finishing positions. Gase avoided being eliminated in either incident, allowing him to remain on track during the closing stages.

Although he could not return to the lead lap, Gase continued competing as the race entered overtime following the massive accident on Lap 183. He ultimately completed 186 of the 189 laps and finished 21st, gaining 17 positions from his original starting spot.

The performance represented a positive afternoon for Gase, who was competing against many of NASCAR's established full-time drivers. His ability to complete the race and avoid a retirement provided a respectable result during a chaotic superspeedway event.
