When the much-anticipated last film in a trilogy of movies, directed by French Canadian Denis Villeneuve, comes out Dec. 18 on IMAX, moviegoers will also be able to purchase some rather unusual-looking merch as of Dec. 17.
The standout, so to speak, is the Sandworm Thumper Popcorn Tub, which this writer will leave to your imagination in terms of its resemblance to something else, with a price tag of $34.99.
Not only that but it actually vibrates, “inspired by the thumpers the Fremen use to summon sandworms in the film,” according to Cineplex.
First Dune Popcorn Bucket inspired an SNL skit two years ago
In fact, the Dune Popcorn Bucket from Dune: Part Two inspired a silly SNL musical skit in 2024 in which a teenage boy (played by cast member Marecello Hernandez) sang about losing his virginity to it.
Also on sale this time around is the Shareable Popcorn Tub (Two Sandworms) for $32.99, Spacing Guild Cup for $19.99, Double Wall Sand Cup for $19.99, Kawaii Sandworm Plush for $19.99 and Keychain with Gold Metal Keyring for $11.99.
Dune: Part Three is set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) has seized control of the Imperium as a ruthless Emperor and must now face the return of old allies along with his long-lost love, Chani (Zendaya).
Also starring in the movie is Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach de Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem.
Villeneuve and Brian K. Vaughan wrote the screenplay based on the novels written by Frank Herbert.
