Duke's Jayson Tatum knocks down game-winner during 40-point night vs. Nets

· Yahoo Sports

Former No. 3 overall pick and Duke basketball star Jayson Tatum put the Boston Celtics on his back Tuesday night, leading them to a narrow overtime win against the Brooklyn Nets. At the TD Garden, Tatum came alive, scoring 40 points on 10-for-20 shooting from the field to go along with eight assists, five rebounds, one block and zero turnovers.

In the process, Tatum also knocked down the game-winning bucket as time expired, helping Boston earn a 125-124 win at the buzzer, improving to 3-1 on the season and 3-0 at home. Tatum's teammate, Paul George, put it best after the game, saying, “We got the ball to the MVP, and he took us home.”

The shot reminded many of Tatum's playoff game-winner against the Nets, where he spun around his former teammate and fellow Duke alum Kyrie Irving.

Looking ahead, Tatum and the Celtics will have Thursday off before hosting the Chicago Bulls Friday.
