The Hawaii football team made the 4,255-mile journey to DeKalb, Ill., for today’s Mountain West Conference game against Northern Illinois at Huskie Stadium.
It’s the farthest a FBS team has had to travel for a conference game.
The visiting Rainbow Warriors displayed unabashed enthusiasm during Friday’s 90-minute practice at North Central College in Naperville. Following last week’s loss to New Mexico, the 1-6 Warriors need to win their remaining five regular-season games to be bowl eligible.
Northern Illinois is 0-6.
