'Elite!'? What's Blunt Troy Aikman Think Of Cowboys Coach Brian Schottenheimer?
· Yahoo Sports
Dallas Cowboys' head coach Brian Schottenheimer is on the hot seat for Cowboys Nation after yet another underwhelming start to a season.
With Dallas sitting at 2-4 and Schottenheimer's ability as a head coach and now play-caller in question - at least among fans, if not the Joneses - the pitchforks are coming for Schotty in his second season.

In the face of criticism that he's conceded is somewhat deserved, he this week went bold, stating in one presser, "I know what a great coach I am.'' ...
And then on Friday doubling-down on his self-confidence by claiming on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas that he's an "elite play-caller.''
My response to this boasts is that "greatness'' is measured not in press conferences or radio appearances, but on the scoreboard and in the standings.
And Hall-of-Famer and Cowboys legend Troy Aikman - who will be working this week's Dallas-at-Eagles meeting on "Monday Night Football'' - agrees with me.
"At the end of the day, that's the profession we chose, that's just the bottom line," Aikman told me. "You can talk, you can sell, you can say whatever you want, at the end of the day, no matter who you are, it's all about wins and losses. That's for quarterbacks, owners, head coaches, that's for everyone.
"You can talk about how good you are, you can talk about, 'I'm going to build a culture' and 'I'm going to build this' and 'I'm going to love on these guys.' Great, all of that is great. But when you get into the season, there's only one measuring stick, and it's, 'Did you win the game or did you lose the game?'
"And that's all that matters."
Aikman is no "hater.'' But he is being blunt here.
Oh, and he's also correct.
'I'm A Great Coach!' Cowboys' Brian Schottenheimer Speaks Out On CriticismWhat's Schotty essentially saying? "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!''Schottenheimer is 9-13-1 as the Dallas head coach. He's 3-8 in his last 11 games. He's 2-4 this year after back-to-back losses in which the offense he calls the plays for have scored a total of 29 points.
There is nothing "elite'' about any of that.
I have also suggested in this space that if Schottenheimer and Dak Prescott can't win this awful version of the NFC East, they should be held accountable for their shortcomings.
Aikman pretty much agrees with that as well.
Said the Dallas icon:
If Cowboys Don't Make Playoffs? Fire Schottenheimer - And Dak PrescottWith a healthy Dak Prescott facing an injured, historically weak division, anything less than an NFC East title demands a total overhaul of the Dallas roster.
