Javonte Green on how Boston Celtics helped get his NBA career going

· Yahoo Sports

You might think that Javonte Green hates the Boston Celtics from the 19-points beatdown he broke out on his former ball club in the Piston's 121-113 Opening Night win over Boston, fueled in large part by 5 made shots from deep that Green deployed to help beat back a Celtics 22-point advantage. But Green has long had affection for his former team, and remains close to Boston star forward Jayson Tatum to this day.

The former Celtic wing shared why he remains a fan of Boston when he is not facing them on the court in a recent exclusive with RG Dot Com senior contributor Bobby Krivitsky, revealing how Boston helped get his NBA career on its feet after having had to start his pro career abroad.

"The hospitality from them" in that regard remains with the Radford alum, who has since established himself as a key part of Detroit's rotation after stops with the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, and Cleveland Cavaliers. "Especially (considering) I wasn't like a traditional rookie."

"After my journey overseas, and coming in there being like I think I was 25, 26 as a rookie, being older than them guys and most of them guys, and them teaching me how to get adjusted to the league and things like that as an older guy," he added.

"It was a great feeling, especially like, right now, still in contact with some of the guys: (Jayson Tatum), Kemba (Walker), guys like that. Obviously, coming to the league is a brotherhood, so we try to keep that."

Except, evidently (and as it should be) on the parquet.
