Aaron Glenn: Frank Reich is doing a good job as offensive coordinator

The Jets finished 29th in points scored during Aaron Glenn's first season as their head coach, so it was not a great surprise that they made the choice to fire offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand at the end of the campaign.
Frank Reich was the choice to replace him and the Jets acquired quarterback Geno Smith while making other changes to the unit, but the results have not been much different through six games. They are 27th in points scored, dead last in red zone efficiency and in the bottom portion of the league in a number of other metrics. It hasn't helped

Their Week 6 loss to the Patriots turned in part on a pair of failed fourth down conversions that saw the Jets get stopped short on a pair of runs, which is also something that contributed to their loss to the Packers in Week 2. On Monday, Glenn was asked if he's happy with what he's seen from Reich thus far.
"I think he's done a good job. I really do," Glenn said, via a transcript from the team. "Obviously, there are a number of things that we can improve on, and I think I just told you guys that from short yards to two-minute, but that also goes on me also when it comes to the defensive side, me and [defensive coordinator Brian] Duker on some things that we have to get better at, too. We have to improve on some things and that's what the season is. That's what practice is. After six games, it's hard to just say, 'Okay we're this.' We have to see how this thing plays out, but I would say I think he's done a good job. . . . As we continue to go through this season, I'll continue to see us progress and getter better on the things we have to get better at. To answer your question, I think he's done a good job."
Injuries have kept running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell off the field in recent games while first-round pick Omar Cooper just got back on the field after a Week 1 ankle injury. Cooper had a strong game against the Patriots, which was a promising development for what Reich could do with a full hand but more tangible results will have to come one way or another for the Jets to improve on a 2-4 start.
